Five Days West: 1,800 Miles of Wonder

Road trips often cross my mind. A sense of freedom, nowhere to be, nothing to do, other than what feels right. After working a stint at a ranch in Northwest Montana, I had some time before heading home, and I started driving and pulling over when something felt right. Five days, five states, roughly 1,800 miles — Montana into Wyoming, Idaho, Utah, and Colorado.

Some moments lasted only seconds. A quiet stretch of road. Light hitting a fence. A quick stop that didn’t require much thought. I photographed what I noticed and moved on, not knowing which of those moments would stick.

A few of them did.

This entry is a look at where Five Days West Collection came from — a fast drive and the small moments in between that slowed everything down. A handful of these moments are available as fine-art prints.
